Located just 6 miles off the coast of Clare, it’s part of the Wild Atlantic Way—easy to reach but offers a serene escape from the demands of everyday life. Man of Aran Fudge

Delicious Island made fudge! Man of Aran Fudge was established by Tomás Póil, a native of Inis Oirr, over 25 years ago. His nephew Eoghan now produces these award winning treats on Inis Oírr. Their top three selling flavours are Tiger Butter, Chocolate Orange and Baileys.

Teach an Tae

Family cafe serving barista coffee, tea, homemade bakery and wholesome meals. Centrally located, enjoy beautiful sea views on their sunny and sheltered patio, or relax next to the fire in their heritage tea rooms. Delicious homegrown island food.

Caife Úna

Knitting and craft cafe located at the top of th Inis Oírr pier. All baking is homemade and includes soups, chowder and sandwiches. Úna’s Cafe is know for its great coffee and farmhouse style decor. They also cater for group bookings.

Tigh Ned

Tigh Ned is a Traditional Irish Pub. They offer a ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ and a great pint of Guinness! Bar food is served seasonally between walk-ins only. Their seafood is locally sourced and is caught by the owner himself, Paraic, in his beloved boat, ‘Lily Sue’.

Shipwreck Takeaway

Located at the Plassey Shipwreck, this food truck is a special place to enjoy unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Cliffs of Moher. With the freshest ingredients sourced locally, a great place for something to eat while on your island walk, tour or bike ride.

Tigh Ruairi

This pub is centrally located on Inis Oírr and offers great hospitality and service throughout the extended summer season. Music is played here every night during the summer months. Good bar style food served daily at competitive prices, with seasonal seafood a regular on the menu.

Chipper na Céibhe

Conveniently located at the top of the Inis Oírr Pier, this chipper serves freshly cooked, locally sourced meals to order. Outside seating with beautiful sea views are plentiful, a great place to soak in the atmosphere of people arriving and departing the island. Groups are welcome and catered for.

An Currach Chipper

A family run Chipper located right on the pristine Blue Flag beach of Inis Oírr. It is the perfect spot to indulge in a delicious crepe or traditional fish and chips. It’s an ideal place to relax and enjoy a meal after a day of exploring the island.

A holiday Hostel with self-catering facilities situated on the waterfront beside the island pier. There are different room types available from 6 bed dormitory rooms, family and private rooms with en-suite. A great place to begin your island adventure.

Wild Atlantic Island Run

Inis Oírr Wild Atlantic Island Run is a 5km & 10km road race that takes place yearly on Inis Oirr. The run raises funds for Coláiste Ghobnait, the secondary school on Inis Oirr. The whole island gets behind this event every year.

Cleas CTR

We run the Community Services programme on Inis Oírr. We provide services to the community like a taxi/siob service and sell locally produced crafts. We are supported by Pobal. Our shop is Open 10am-4pm.

Rothaí Inis Oírr

Conveniently located across the road from the pier. Open all year, 7 days a week. Inis Oírr is very bike friendly and cycling gives you the luxury of exploring the island at your own pace. They encourage you to take a few days to truly enjoy all the island has to offer.

Looped Trails

There are two looped walks on Inis Oírr. Both looped walks start and finish at the pier. Lúb Ceathrú an Phoillín. Purple arrow on a white background. Length 11.2km. Lúb Ceathrú an Locha. Green arrow on a white background. Length 7km.

Árás Éanna Art Centre

Áras Éanna is Europe’s most westerly Arts Centre. Situated in a former weaving factory, it isa multi-functioning arts space that includes an artists studio space, a 75 seat theatre, two galleries and various rooms and spaces for workshops and classes.

Joyces Bike Hire

Located right by the beach, Joyce’s Bike Hire offers a fantastic way to explore the island at your own pace. They provide a wide range of bikes, including traditional bicycles, e-bikes for an effortless ride, and children’s side buggies for little adventurers.

Rásaí Inis Oírr

We host an annual fun filled family weekend including Kids races – egg and spoon, three legged race etc., Adult competitions – long jump, high jump, poc fada, tug of war etc. and traditional currach races. Rásaí Inis Oírr is a non-profit community organisation.

Horse and Cart Tour

Aran Seaweed Baths and Spa

Aran Seaweed Baths and Spa offers a serene and rejuvenating experience with a wide range of treatments and products. The highlight of the spa is the traditional seaweed bath, where you can soak in the healing properties of freshly harvested island seaweed.

The Chapel of Saint Gobnait

This secluded chapel is dedicated to Saint Gobnait, the patron saint of Ballyvourney. According to local legend, Saint Gobnait sought refuge on Inis Oírr, fleeing from her enemies on the mainland in an effort to escape persecution.

Saint Enda’s Well

The people of Inis Oírr have great respect for St Enda’s well. March 11 is St. Endas feast day and the islanders gather at the well to pray. Many stories are told of islanders being cured at St. Ends well.

The Plassey Shipwreck on Inis Oírr

The Plassey hit “Carraig na Finnise” in the year 1960. The Plassey was a cargo boat, carrying a varied load of yarn, stained glass, and whiskey. The people of the island saved all the crew, famous for appearing on Father Ted television programme.

O Brian’s Castle

The O’Brien family ruled over Inis Oírr until 1585, and during their time on the island, they built this three-storey castle. Within the ancient Dún Formna, a fortified prehistoric hillfort, the castle was strategically placed to provide an impressive vantage point over the island.

Saint Kevin’s

Saint Kevin is the patron saint of the island and the church was built in the 10th – 14th century. For centuries the church would often be covered by sand during a sandstorm. It was regularly cleared out by islanders and eventually naturally sunk into the ground.

Cnoc Raithní

This ancient structure, which is now on the National Monuments list, was exposed in 1885 when a great gale of wind cleared away the amount of sand above and around it. It has been there since (1500 RC) and was built as a tumulus.
